About SEC Data Investor
SEC Data Investor is a free financial research platform that transforms raw government filings into actionable investment analytics. We aggregate data from three primary federal sources: SEC EDGAR (Securities and Exchange Commission), the U.S. Treasury Department, and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (FRED economic data).
Our tools cover equities, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), mutual funds, money market funds, Treasury securities, and state legislative databases. Every metric — from stock composite scores to mutual fund expense ratios — is derived directly from official filings rather than third-party estimates.
The platform serves individual investors, financial advisors, and students seeking transparent, source-verified financial data without paywalls or subscription fees. All scoring methodologies are openly documented with full calculation transparency.

How We Build Our Analytics
SEC EDGAR Filings
We process 10-K annual reports, 10-Q quarterly filings, 13-F institutional holdings, N-PORT fund portfolio disclosures, and N-CEN fund census data. Our pipeline extracts financial statements, calculates derived metrics like Piotroski F-Score, and builds composite quality scores.
Federal Reserve (FRED)
Treasury yield curves, inflation breakevens, VIX volatility index, corporate credit spreads, and 30+ macroeconomic series flow into our market regime detection engine. Updated every 6 hours to capture intra-day shifts in financial conditions.
Transparent Scoring
Every score on this platform shows its calculation methodology. Stock composite scores combine 8 fundamental factors. Mutual fund grades use a 5-factor model (cost, risk-adjusted return, size, diversification, and fee transparency). No black-box algorithms.
